There is someone selling a camper on craiglist, and they state that they are using you as a third party seller. This is how the seller is explaining the process. Is this true? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

"Hello,

As mentioned in my previous message, the product is located into iSOLD It custody and i intend to close the transaction through their Third Party Agency. Using this type of Agency will give you the chance to inspect the product before I receive the payment for it. I will explain to you step by step how this will work:

A. First of all and most important, if you agree to close the deal, you will have to send me your shipping information ( your full name and address/ contact phone number and if available also a fax number ).
1. After I receive your shipping information, I will contact iSOLD It and make the shipping reservation onto your name and with your shipping address as the intended receiver of the product.

B. You will receive a notification from iSOLD It as a confirmation that the product is in their custody.
1. After that, you will have to send the payment to iSOLD It.
2. iSOLD It will verify the Transfer, and if everything is in order, they will deliver the product to your door step. The payment is sent to
iSOLD It Agency and not to me directly. The payment will be forwarded to me only after you receive the product and confirm that you accept it.
3. After you will receive the product and you will be completely satisfied with it, you will instruct iSOLD It with your decision.
C. If by any reason, you will not be satisfied with the product, you will return it to iSOLD It with no expense. ( i will support all the returning taxes )
The product will come with 10 days Return Policy ( period to inspect the product condition and if by any reason you won't be satisfied, you will be fully refunded within 24 hours).

Please let me know what is your opinion and if you agree to start the transaction."

So will I be able to inspect the camper, and if I don't like something have it returned for a full refund?

Thanks,
Joe

I also was contacted by a seller on Craigslist that said they just moved to Canada and were going to sell their camper through iSoldIt.com here is a copy of the e-mail I recieved:
Thank you for your email. I still have it for sale but before i answer to your questions i`m afraid i have some "bad" news: i`m selling this because i am moving back home in Canada as i want to start a small business here with my family. I was born here, we lived in US for a while, tried a few things but didn`t worked out and decided to move back in Canada and try a small business here because after all there's no place like home. However, the point is that i am not in US right now and i can`t be there to make the transaction in person but this is not something to worry about because i will sell this with the help of iSOLD It. They are the largest eBay selling service but it`s possible that you never heard of them if you don`t sell or buy often on the internet. Their website is www.i-soldit.com if you want to check the service out, you will not find the listing there because only the items sold through ebay are listed on their website, the items sold through other marketplaces are not listed on their website.

When i left in Canada, i left the item along with several other items in the iSOLD It custody so i can sell them even though i am not there, so if you are OK with this, just drop me an email and i will explain the rest of the transaction details. I just hope you are serious and really interested in this because i want to sell it A.S.A.P.

Thanks

James

So how can I find out if this is legit? He never asked to send anything WU or MG but it seems a little suspicious especially from seeing the other comment on here about a camper on craigslist and the fact that I can't find the link on CL to the camper anymore...

I was interested in a stove that normally retails for $9000 but listed on Craigslist for $2000. The seller also wanted me to use iSoldit. Ironically, I received the SAME email, word for word, as listed above, from my seller explaining the process. That alerted me that this is a scam. I have since notified Craigslist, who promptly removed the item from their listing. HTH someone!

Alright, i`m glad you are still interested. So like i said before i'll explain how iSOLD It works because i want all things to be clear from the beginning. They are the best selling service on eBay, you simply drop an item to one of their stores or have them pick it up from your home, you find a buyer and they'll take it from there. When i left in Canada i left 4 items for sale in their custody, they picked them up from my home so don`t ask at what store, or where the item is exactly because i don`t know, all i know is that they are holding them in one of their warehouses, but as long as they are handling the shipping and handling i don`t care where they are.The best thing about this is that shipping is handled by them and the insurance and shipping fees are covered by them, they charge me a commission of course as nothing is free in this world but they like to call it free smilies/smiley.gif. One more thing, the item is located in US not in Canada, so it will be shipped from US.

OK so here`s a short description of how they work: they have the item, you agree to buy it, you send me your full name and shipping address, i`ll send it to them as a confirmation that i accept you as the buyer, they send you an invoice with the transaction details and the payment instructions and you will send the payment to one of their agents. After they receive the payment confirmation, they will start the shipping process. After you receive the item, you have a 10 day money back guarantee to check if everything is in order. If you don`t like it you can return it within these 10 days and receive a full refund, or keep it and notify them so they can transfer the payment to me. If you decide to return it they will ship it back and they will bill me for the shipping cost so you see i have no intention of sending you something that isn't as described.

So if you agree with this terms and decide to proceed, then i will need your full name and shipping address in order to start the transaction. They will contact you by email so if you have other email accounts please let me have them so i can be sure that they contact you and avoid any possible delay.

As soon as i receive this details from you i will forward them to iSOLD It exactly as you sent them.

Thank you

Daniel

Thank goodness for knowledgeable Western Union customer service reps. I have a friend who wanted to buy a motorcycle from Europe. I was the one who helped them check and double check and triple check to make sure this was all a go. They were to send the money this WU and it would be "held" by a bank there and not deposited until the bike got to the US. We made some calls and checked on the shipping information, made sure the bank existed and as skeptical as we both still were, got a money order and went to WU. The clerk would NOT take the money. She REFUSED to allow us to send it and said she'd seen too many scams and she didn't want to see another. Whew, several thousand dollars saved!!

So, thank you WU lady. That was way back when and I've learned plenty since that day....as has my friend.....so BUYER BEWARE. I read these posts here and it sounds like this guy makes a good business scamming people in different parts of the country, using different names. Worse news is, these kinds of people have no problem putting their head on a pillow and getting a good night's sleep every night. That's okay....paybacks are hell.

Here is one from a guy names Ian selling a commercial trailer on Charleston, SC's craigslist::

Hi There,

Thank you for your email. I still have it for sale, the price is right $2900, i must sell it urgently because i have to pay the bills for my new home. It's in great working condition, never been involved in any kind of accidents. I can assure you that it's full operational.Unfortunately for the moment i am outside of my state for the next 3 months due to my new working contract ( i am a construction engineer ).Right now i'm located in Oxford, Maine. When i have received this working contract in Oxford, Maine, i have decided to close the transaction using a Third Party Agency (This type of agency will take care of all the transaction details). A transaction closed through this agency will assure safety for both buyer and seller at the same time. The name of the agency that i prefer to use is iSOLD It (www.877isoldit.com).
This is a company provided by eBay for transactions closed over the Internet. It is very safe, recommended by eBay and also by Craigslist.
At this moment the product is located into iSOLD It custody. I have left it there because in case we`ll agree to close the transaction they will take care of all the arrangements. If you are interested to purchase it please feel free to mail me for more information regarding the transaction terms.

Thank you in advance!

Ian

Glad I caught the scam but I am worried about the many that I am sure they have scammed. The part about the Western Union transfer is what really made me think something was up.
